16. Pure (***)
Misfit teen with baggage gets a shot at working in a milieu she can relate to. She discovers Kierkegaard and Rachmaninoff but can't tell love and lust apart. Stalking seems inevitable but this film's too smart for that. The resolution's unexpectedly satisfying.
17. Corpo Celeste (**)
Fourteen year-old Marta is transplanted from Switzerland to small town Italy. The church is the social center of things but it's flailing and even the priest has lost hope. All this unfolds under the unflinching gaze of Marta whose characteristic silence speaks volumes. A film pretty much carried by this young actress' facial talent.
18. Patang (**)
Exuberant stew of dysfunctional family drama, festival celebration and kite-flying for blood. And, oh, what colours and energy!
